Guild F.A.Q.
Last updated: Oct. 22, 2009 @ 3:50pm

What kind of Guild is The Immortals?

Casual, family friendly, ad hoc raiding

What are the Guild Rules?

1) Don't be a jerk
2) Help each other out
3) PG-13 public channels for language and content
** We have families with young kids that play and have agreed to be mature about our /g content
** We consider this the maturity litmus test - if you can't control yourself, you're probably not going to be happy here.
4) If you're under 13, at least one of your parents (or a legal guardian) must already be a guild member.

Officers: When you /ginvite - set the real first name and forum name in the officer's notes. If you promote their guild rank to Ironborn, put who they know in the guild already. Please do NOT promote to Ironborn without a) somebody that will vouch for the new member or b) We have a forum logon and a first name for some rudimentary accountability (such as can exist on the internet) and they've shown that they're here to stay for a while or are willing to help out.

How do I join?

1) Agree to the guild rules above.
2) Create a logon to this forum.
3) Log in to the game.
4) Do a /who Immortals
5) Message somebody and ask if any officers are online
6) An officer will contact you, ask you your real first name, ask for your forum logon, ask if you 've read the guild rules, and invite you to the guild
** Real first name is all that's needed, we don't need to know your surname or where you're from.

Do you have a Vent Server?

Yes. Once you join you'll be given access to the private forum. The information is posted there as a sticky. If you have access to the private forum, you can click this link.

What about Raiding?

We go as often as we have people that want to go. Currently Sunday and Tuesday nights are raid night.

Raiding Status (Oct 22, 2009):
1) We're doing 25 man content on Tuesdays (or try to), 10 mans on other nights (usually Sunday, Wednesday)
2) Not everybody gets to go
** We have lots of level 80s that log on during Raid nights.
** We have a rotation list and will try to make sure folks that sit the bench one night can go the next time.
3) Classes?
** We'll take anything, preferably healers and ranged DPS.
** Like every other guild since WotLK came out, we need another Death Knight like we need a hole in the head.
4) Versatility
** Obviously if you have multiple level 80s that can fill multiple roles, you're much more likely to be able to go on the Raid though maybe not as your "preferred character" every time.

What are the Loot Rules?

Instances

Standard built-in Need/Greed.

If you Need it, as a courtesy speak up before you hit Need just to let everyone know that you're going to Need the item - else Greed or pass.

If you "Need" it for an Alt - be sure everyone is ok with you hitting Need for an alt before you do so - otherwise hit Greed and discuss trade terms with whoever wins it.

Raids

We use a Master Looter and roll. A list is maintained of who has gotten stuff and if something is wanted by two or more folks, the one that has gotten stuff before may be skipped over to try and keep it more fair.

What's the Guild's Basic History?

Many of the founders transferred over from Bloodhoof when the Eitrigg went live. They did the transfer for one of 2 reasons: a) because Eitrigg was one of the first of the "new hardware type" servers in the Central Time Zone b) to form a Casual guild as the one on Bloodhoof was moving towards Progression Raiding. Many of those early members had been playing WoW since opening day or beta.

Many of the guild members are employees or former employees of Reaper Miniatures Inc.. As such, we started out with a very strong base of folks from the North Texas area.

Many of our members are family, friends, co-workers, or online acquaintances of those "Reaper Peeps" and MANY folks in the guild (in addition to being Online Gamers) are "pen and paper" roleplayers or are fans of pewter miniatures, painting miniatures, or playing miniatures based wargames. In fact, one of the reasons we don't raid on Thursdays and Friday nights is because most of us are sitting around a table rolling dice and playing "old school" roleplaying games.

So far we've had a Real Life get-together every year (usually twice or more a year) since we started. This is usually a LAN party at Reaper HQ in Denton or a potluck BBQ/Cookout at somebody's house (This is in addition to the yearly "ReaperCon" at Reaper HQ).

Where can I read more about the Guild?

This thread covers the history of the guild emblem, colors, and many of the titles, terms, and symbols used in the guild.

Why we use a Black and Gold Kraken

What are the Guild Ranks

0 - Reaper (guild owner flag in the WoW database, all permissions) - Not the "guild leader" in the classical sense. We're really more of a "group of like minded individuals" (or try to be anyway).

1 - Huscarl - As per High Jarl except with increased Event Creation and Vault Administration rights.

2 - High Jarl - "End Game Geared" Guild Officer (invite, promote/demote, officer chat, etc.) - "end Game Geared" officer.

3 - Deep Sea Reaver - "End Game Geared" Character - "end Game Geared" as determined by current in-game conditions.

4 - Jarl - "Geared" Guild Officer (invite, promote/demote, officer chat, etc.).

5 - Sea Reaver - "Geared" Character - better than basic gear score.

6 - Coastal Reaver - "Max Level" Character - Max level for current expansion with a basic gear score (basic 10 man content).

7 - Thane - "Non Max Level" Guild Officer (invite, promote/demote, officer chat, etc.) - less than max level for the current expansion.

8 - Ironborn - Default - i.e. less than max level character/alt for the current expansion.

9 - Saltwife - Special rank/probationary rank with only guild listen permissions. Created at parental request.
